You can use this checklist when paraphrasing a text:

 

• Have I copied phrases from the original (thus committing plagiarism)?

• Have I changed the style of the original to my own writing style?

 

• Is my paraphrase approximately the same length as the original?

• Have I misunderstood the original in any way?

• Is the meaning of my paraphrased text the same as that of the original?

• Have I acknowledged the source following the required citation style guide?
