How to avoid plagiarism: paraphrasing
You can use this checklist when writing the abstract of a research paper:

-
Have I copied phrases/sentences from the original (thus committing plagiarism)?

-
Is my abstract written in an academic style?

-
Have I followed an appropriate structure? (the typical order of information in an abstract is: Background/Context, research gap, objective, methods, results and implications/conclusions).

-
Have I introduced my topic appropriately or have I included too much background information?

-
Is the background information appropriate or is it too general?

-
Is my abstract coherent and cohesive?

-
Have I come up with an appropriate research title?
